What you're saying is true for a more efficient front-mount setup, but we're talking about a stock car here.
for some reason i thought he had a fmic.

I have a K&N filter I got with my corksport FMIC kit if you're interested in it.

You won't hardly change your emissions or blow up your motor just from taking out your airbox + putting a cone filter in. As long as you do what evil aviator said + not get a shitty one. Apexi + K&N make great filters. I've heard that the HKS foam filters will dry out + disintegrate after long periods of time. But that's why you replace them.

All you'll need is the S shaped section, which replaces the TID. An airbox will dampen some of the noise, but with any TID change from stock, you will greatly increase the volume of the turbo. If you REALLY want to hear the turbo, plumb a 1/2" hose from the airbox into the cabin, like Ford does on the new Mustang.

Really?? Sounds kind of interesting.... So for the people that just put a cone filter on, what type of mounting kit do you use? What do you use to keep the intake from just bouncing around the engine bay?

Just fab up a simple bracket by bending some flat bar.

All the vendors have cone filter kits. You can also buy generic AFM adapters on eBay, or make your own.
