Intake Question

This may sound stupid but I was think this whale I was cleaning my engine bay out.

What is the diffrents in intake and exhaust? and I dont mean one sucks and one blows :P I mean the diffrents in heat and reasions what is used in making the pipes out of what they are (intake cast iron? exhaust ss).

My reasion is simple. Why can't you use exhaust ss pipe to make a intake? if you had the pipe and weilders that is.

stupid I know but I just wandering.

thanks.

you mean to make the intake "arm" piping? there's no reason you couldn't use steel. in fact there is a guy on the forum making cold air intakes using mandrel bent steel pieces. however, i would think that if possible, a non heat soak/heat transferring material would be better for an intake, especially an NA where every little bit helps. when you want to keep intake temps down, why make the pieces of the intake out of high heat transfer materials? why do you think the original is made up of plastics?
