Question Intake Manifold Check Valve

Is it normal for the intake manifold check valve to become covered in sludge. And how bad is it when the valve is stuck?

You're going to have to be more specific as to which valve...There are 4 check valves on the intake I can think of off hand...I assume this is a '90 TII?

Yep, it's pretty normal. You can clean it by soaking in carb cleaner for a few minutes, then rinse off.
