Intake air vacuum?? (need experienced 13b peoples help)
So I got my 87 T2 with the knowledge that it had starting issues when it was driven, shut off, and then restarted (hot start??). It also had a weird issue of when it idles, it idles at about 1100rpm (I'm sure the idle just needs to be adjusted, the previous owner said he messed with it but gave up because it was a pain to get to), but not only that, it would bounce while it was idling, like between 50-100rpm (I'm guessing, it may be more or less but thats what it seems like to me).
Today I went and got gas, I held the car at 3k rpm before shut down to help get rid of the excess fuel (this is what I was told to do by another rx7 owner), then proceeded to cut the engine off. When I went to try and restart the car it wouldnt start (as expected). I pushed the car into a parking space and popped the hood. I did the whole fuse pull tecnique and it still didnt start (I did this about 3 times). I proceeded to check the vacuum lines and the afm. While unbolting the afm the intake pipe to the turbine just popped right off. I applied little to no effort to that specific part and it just popped right off. Due to further inspection of the outlet area of the intake pipe I noticed the rubber was cracked and corroded and the c-clamp wouldnt even tighten.
I proceeded to put the intake pipe back on and reconnect everything. When I was finally able to start the car again I noticed the bouncing idle issue got even worse, now it would bounce up about 300-600 rpm. I'm sure the intake pipe is much more loose than it was before i pulled it off so I'm guessing the loose and cracked intake pipe is allowing abient air in and throwing off the afm or messing up the vacuum line right after the AFM. The emissions on this car were removed just to let everyone know. I'm hoping if I replace the intake piping most of my issues will go away. Could the messed up intake be my issue or is it something else?
Thanks to whoever can help.

It may not be the only issue, but it would definitely be a great start to getting the car back into shape! Get it repaired and let us know how it worked out for ya..... shouldn't cost much.... maybe like 30 bucks.... Get an intake off of a prelude and modify it to mount up your intake.

30 bucks you mean like the prelude one from the junk yard? Or new or used from someone else? Also will the na intake hose work with the turbo 2 system. Sorry if thats a newb question. I would guess that it wouldnt since the induction setups are completely different but it doesnt hurt to ask.

There are band-aids to reduce the inconvenience a bit, but if you engine is low on compression the problem won't go away until you either rebuild the engine or it blows first and then you rebuild it. The second option is more expensive...
