intake air temp.
What have you guys done to lower the temp, Mine was running about 160 yesterday, It was warm out i'd say close to 90.
Also what is the difference between intake air temp and the afm temp.
On my rtek i was getting about 160 intake and around 125 ish afm temp.
I want to make a box to surround my filter along with some kind of duct to feed cooler air from outside in. If I switched to a t2 hood i'm assuming the scoop would help lower temp as well?
anybody wrap there intake tube in some kind of insulation?
I also got a cel for air intake temp sensor but it only flashed very quickly, im going to fiddle with it maybe just a lose connection.

it's n/a and yeah i have the mazdaspeed intake with no stock airbox. I know when i was at speed1 i saw there race fc, it was n/a and they had a custom pipe made for their intake and had the whole pipe wrapped in insulation, I should have asked about it but it was not on my mind at that time.

I'm in Tallahassee, saw an ambient of 95, yesterday I did some data logging with my megasquirt and never saw over 115 at the iat (after the intercooler)
That is really high for an n/a car. It is odd that the difference is that far off too, correct me if I'm wrong but the distance between the AFM and the IAT is only a few feet of "tubing" and one manifold, and you're not compressing it with a turbo/supercharger either.
Im just running a 2 foot long 45 degree bend with an hks airfilter. No cold air box, yet. I do have my turbo/manifold heat shielding on, and am going to wrap up my downpipe shortly.
Do you have any of your heat shielding on he manifolds still?
Does your mazdaspeed intake clear the radiator so it isn't pulling air from behind it?
Was this temperature taken after the car has been ran and then left to heatsoak and then at startup?

good point, my car was sitting all day baking in the sun at work, might have played a factor, i also had a CEL pop up for the intake air temp but went away after a second or two so i think might just be loose. I was wondering why the temps were so far apart as well.
you just used regular tin foil? I'm going to take a trip to home depot and see what i can come up with.

okay, now this is starting to make more sense.
160 degrees was because the engine/sun was baking the air/sensor.
electronic sensors heatsoak too.
Check the connectors a the AFM and IAT, make sure they're clean.
I suspect you're quite a bit cooler than you think you are.
Yea regular tin foil works well as an insulator, grab some sheetmetal and make a divider for your air filer in that corner of he engine bay, there are a few threads that show you how to make simple ones that work and look good.
