I have a question about making the stock air box getting more air. I was wondering what things I can do to make air flows freely into the air box if I take out the attachment that is near the fan. The air duct that is under the front of the hood. Any suggestion.

 

from what i read somewhere, " The RX7 intake box is designed to be cold air already." if you take the snorkel out, where do you think the air box will get the air from? from the engine bay! (where the air is hot hot hot!)

i'd suggest you DONT take it off.

 

If you have the stock one, then just keep that. If not, look for 'vinspeed' if he still makes/sells his cold air box.

yeah if you are driving a s5.. dont bother, look into a stand alone to remove your afm, THEN the intake crap no bang for the buck will help.

The series doesn't matter. The big difference is whether it is turbocharged or non-turbo. A stock non-turbo engine doesn't really benefit much from a custom air box, but a turbocharged engine would benefit if the box were designed properly.

^ Best idea if you are willing to spend the money for the standalone EMS, installation, and tuning. The standalone EMS will allow for a custom intake that is superior to any air box that would be required with the stock AFM. Besides, a properly tuned standalone EMS will yield better throttle response and gas mileage, and will eliminate the 3800rpm hesitation, flooding, and other problems with the stock ECU.
