Dose the air floow meter box have to be on the car for it to start.

 

Well it controls the fuel pump and part of the fuel curve. If its a S4, it turns on the fuel pump when the motor starts. I know most starting probs are related to it....I dont thing you would be able to based on its importance. Dont think its possible.
