intake

for an 87 rx7 should i take off the box and get a cone intake with adapter or take my whole intake piping off and put a new stainless steel tubing in how much of a difference would it make. i heard that theirs a sensor in the intake would it be possible to put your own tubing in their

I dunno if this is true or not, but my understanding is that metalic intake tubes will transfer and retain engine heat more then plastic or synthetic intake tubes.

You need the Air Flow Meter(AFM) or your car will not be happy. I recommend the cone filter. A custom intake pipe is a good idea, but leave it for later on down the road when you've built the car up a little more.

Having a cone filter with out a cold air box won't increase performance much..

I would recomend using a K&N drop in filter.

But if your going to make a cold air box.. then stick with the cone.
