Arrow Installing an aftermarket BOV on 88 T2

I've done some searching in the forums, but I didn't really find what I was looking for. I would like to install some sort of aftermarket blow off valve on my 88 T2, not so much for performance, but for the cool sound it makes. I think I know where the stock BOV is, but I'm not entirely sure. How does one go about installing an aftermarket BOV? I need to get one that does NOT vent to the atmosphere, correct? Any recomendations and/or pictures of previous installations would be appreciated, thanks.

most after market ones are designed to vent to atmousphere.... they wont sound cool if they dont!.... if you vent to atmouspher your car might back fire sometimes when letting off , or shoot fire if u have straight 3" exaust .

if you get a greddy type-s(i know this cuz i have one) you can recirculate the air back into the intake. Doing so will cause your car to not run as rich, and im sure there are other benifits. Right now mine is vented to the atmosphere, and yes it does pop and shoot flames, but i think that gas more to do with not having any cats.

The stock "bov" (air bypass valve) is the little black thing that connects your TID to the pipe in between your turbo/intercooler.

Is installing a BOV fairly easy or is there welding and all of that hard stuff required?

*Kits* make them drop-in.
If you go with a *universal* BOV, then you need to weld a mating flange in; the flange is available from the dealer.

I installed a Blitz Bov on my TII

on the hot side where the old Bov was...

i can't get the thing to make any noise for the life of me...

i loosened the spring...

i'm thinking 7psi on the stock BOV just isn't enough...

and when the throttle plate slams shut.. the Intercooler is absorbing and slowing much of the airs energy before getting back to the bov...

this damn thing needs to be right before the TB, and higher boost to make a good sound...

can't wait to go FMIC, and turn up the boost
