Question Installed water temp gauge, little leaking

Alright, so I installed an autometer z series water temp gauge with my friend tonight. I did it on the coolant filler neck. Took the neck out, drilled the hole, tapped it with a 1/8th inch NPT tap, and put the temp sender in. I put some thread sealing tape on the threads of the temp sender before putting it in which was supposed to seal it from leaks. When putting the temp sender in i tightened it as much as I could but it didnt go fully (all the threads) in. Now since the neck is curved (cylindrical) tighting it all the way wouldnt sit flush anyways. So, we started it up and all was fine, no visible leaks. Left it there till it was fully warmed up and the temp gauge was working good, still no leaks. Drove around and then got back to my friends house, popped the hood just to check it, and guess what? It is leaking out the back... It isn't leaking a whole lot, just a tiny bit, but its a leak nonetheless. Any suggestions on how to fix the leak permanently? Or why its leaking? Doesn't seem like it should be, because its really tight. Would more tape sealer be the best idea?

Just looking for advice from people who have done a temp gauge before and how you made sure there were no leaks.

Make sure the you didnt thread it past the tape on the sensor, that would make it leak just a bit but enough that you would notice it was leaking

What do you mean? I put tape on all the threading on the temp sensor, so it should be stopping the leaking, right?

More sealant tape should do the trick.

You could solder it.

I meant essentially what den said, it sounds like you just dont have enough of the tape on there.

the neat thing about the autometer coolant gauges i fouind it that they thread exactly into the stock location.. u loose the stock gauge but whatever.. they fit perfect right in the side of the block
