hi

I am thinking of purchaseing a pod style air filter for my 1990 fc turbo

what is required in terms of installation - i know there is a MAP sensor underleath the of standard air box - so do i need an adapter plate or is the other end of the MAP is round so I just need a correct diameter air filter?

steps of installation would be greatful.

It's pretty simple really. The 89-91 model airflow meter has a 2.5" dia. inlet, so you just need a pod filter with that sized neck. The AFM is supported by the airbox, so you'll need to make a bracket to support it. A heat shield between the engine and the filter and a cold air duct are both highly recommended, otherwise the power gained by the less restrictive filter will be offset by the loss from breathing hot air!
BTW, the AFM is a MAF (mass airflow) type, not MAP (manifold absolute pressure). There's a MAP sensor on the front of the RHS shock tower. Enough acronyms?!
