Innovate LC-1 Sensor Location

I got an LC-1 wideband sensor, and was trying to decide where to mount it. I dont have the heat sink, but could buy/make one if completely necessary. Right now I was planning on putting it in the intermediate pipe (stock pipe, would be between the two cats on an 88 TII if either of them were still there), right after the slight bend in it. This is about 3 feet away from the turbine exit, so i was hoping the EGT's would have dropped enough to avoid damaging it. Eventually an EGT sensor was going to go into the stock narrowband bung, but for the moment it will be plugged.

Does this sound like a safe location, and where do other people running the LC-1, LM-1, and just the bosch sensors in general have them? Please include whether you use a heat sink or not. Thanks!

Rule of thumb is approx. 36" from the exhaust port on a turbo'd car.

Mine is about two feet from the turbo. Just before the "cat converter" . Well actually its just a silencer but may be a cat one day

I've never had sensor problems yet but who knows. Even track days its been ok.

down near the cat. no problems what so ever.
no heat sink.
i pry should of used it for a "just in case" ordeal.

mine have always been off of the dp.
You shouldn't run it after ANY cats, you will get bad readings.
never used a heatsink, but i also have always used AEM Uegos.

is it ok to run a temporty senor in the stock O2 bung hole just for tuning ( for an hour or so ) im borrowing one and dont want to wreck it

well ive heard of people puttign them there and it being ok, but you will always run the chance to over heat it and burn it up... that is pretty damn close to the turbo IMO...

Yeah, I hear (and see) alot of them up close. They work, but every manual I've read on placement suggests 36"........but I certainly wouldn't cut that down to much below a couple of feet given that they recommend 36".

Im using an AEM UEGO and.........heat sink? nah

dont ever put the sensor in there to plug the hole, it will destroy the sensor.

36" from the exhaust port is what you need. That is exactly what AEM calls for on its wideband, which probably uses the same (or similar) Bosch sensor

I have my AEM right before the RB presilencer, almost right next the the rear DP flange. I now it is not exactly 36 inches BUT I was unsure if mounting it after the presilencer would cause faulty or inaccurate readings.

Mine is sitting about 22-23 inches away from my turbo due to a custom DP.
