injector ?--tell me if this can happen

I have a 86 gxl--it had brown injectors in it.I replaced motor, thought it was a 86 but it had orange injectors in it.So--When i put the injectors in it,I believe i put the brown in for the prim and the orange in for the seconds,---can this be my problem with major flooding and car running like complete ****--hesitating--overloading.

By brown, do you mean tan? Some 87 13B Turbo motors had tan injector plugs that had the same offset notch as the 86 and 87 N/A plugs. If you put the tan injectors in the primary injector spot, you now how 550cc injectors in the primary spot.

The "Orange" injectors, are you sure they are orange? The only orange injectors should be the 680cc injectors from the 1st gen 13B from the GSL-SE. If the electrical plug is square, that is what you have. If the plug is oval in shape, then it is a 460cc injector from a 89-91 N/A second gen.

Hope that helps

There are two square injector plugs, the 86-87 and the 87.5-88. The location of the guide pin for the plugs determines which one is which.

The difference is high and low impedence.

The injectors are not interchangeable without modifing the plug and the wiring.

Colors really mean very little, and colors fade and can shift from engine heat. And orange injector might have been brown or red before fading. You can not go by the color.

well, being that I have an 86 GXL just like he does, and I have a chart showing all the injector colors, plug shapes, notch posistion, impedance, and part number, I figured that I would look at the chart and list all the injectors near the same color that he mentioned that will fit a 86 wire harness without modification. The ones I listed are the ones. Deductive reasoning.

Do you have a pic of that chart?
