Question Informative Purchase

I am looking to buy a 2nd gen gxl.. I have sort of picked one out already, but want to make sure I am getting a good deal and possibly ideas of what more I could ask the guy or what else I could look at on the car.

The car is an 86' GXL. the following is a list of repairs/modications the car has:

- rebuilt ported 13b 87' engine (13k km on rebuilt, 130k on original chassis)
- intercooler
- newly rebuilt tranny
- brand new clutch
- the interior has been redone in white vinyl
- sound system has been ripped out
- fog lights
- apex N1 exhaust
- 17" chrome rims (which I might have him take off and exchange for older 15"
- Body kit (gp sports?)
- The rear has new springs and has been lowered just slightly

The car has never been in any accident that I can tell... He assures me it hasn't.. I check the underneath of the car for any tinkering or any body work, other than the body kit. I have checked for rust, and there is some slight rust under the wheel wells... which is normal. he coats it every 6 months to prevent rust as it is sometime driven in the winter but for the most part has been stored in a heated garage.

The paint job was done 2 months ago and has a few slight scratches, but can only be seen under certain light, but otherwise the paint job is perfect.

He is asking for 5800 which will drop dramatically once the rims have been exchanged for the 15" with the all season tires.

He said he could probably let it go for 5k or so. Is this a deal? I am going back again to test drive it, I have only had the motor running for 15 minutes, restarting the motor.. It idles beautifully at 750rpms... no fluctuations whatsoever that I could see..

ummm... it has never been smoked in, which is not really a huge deal, but there are no burns in the upholstry. The windows are original and have no cracks in them whatsoever.. the front window does have a chip in it from a big rig, but no cracking of the window. I also tested the front head lights, they work perfectly, up and done smoothly.

What else should I take a look at when I go back, and when I am driving the car, what should I look out for or pay attention to.

I would appreciate any information I could recieve, I have checked out the forums and faq's for checking out an rx7 and have done most of those checks but just want to get some people's opinions just in case.

but if 5k is a good deal? and the car checks out (gonna have it inspected) I think I will go for it.
