I'm trying to choose the right steering wheel...

Searched.Searched.Searched.Searched.Searched.Searc hed.

Okay so my stock steering wheel is peeling and leaving bits of black leather in my hands (:O) when I get out of the car. It's the S5 TII leather wrapped Momo.

I have depowered S5 TII Vehicle speed sensing steering.

Apparently stock size is 350mm?

I'm thinking of getting one of these kits...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/86-91...Q5fAccessories
I like the looks and I want a quick release. I realize it's eBay but nobody seems to have a problem with eBay wheels.

The car is a daily driver but it's mostly a "Take-to-the-back-roads" daily so I'm fine without power steering. It does however need to have a horn to pass safety inspections. I sit really far back and leaned back for some reason. I'm 6'0''. Is this going to be a problem with seeing the gauges? Also, can anybody tell what size that is?

that is a bad wheel. get something legit. they are so flimsy. you can bend the hoop like its nothing. get what you pay for man. when a decent quick release is 75$ and a decent wheel is around 100$ you cant expect much for 40 some odd hard earned dollars.

My friend got a similar one to that one in red for his FD and it's held up pretty good. He has PS and doesn't care about how small his is though (320mm). It's not from the same guy though.

I know I get what I pay for but are freakin' STEERING WHEELS even starting to become shitty on eBay? I've seen a ton of people running knockoff wheels with no complaints. I mean I know the hub is kinda a safety issue so I'd hope that I got a decent one but the wheel is no good either?

Anybody have any recommendations while I keep searching?

Edit:
After some searching I found his wheel. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/86-91...Q5fAccessories

Back when I had my 93 integra " don't ask " I had a quick release combo package from weaksauceparts.com for about 350$. I'm about 5.9 and i sit pretty far back aswell, had no problems at all in terms of seeing the gauges.

hope it helps

I have an ebay steering wheel right now and hub, worst decision I could make. It squeeks all the time and it blocks the gauges, I'm looking for Nardi or a genuine Mazdaspeed here soon.

the only reason it'll block the gauges is if it's too small... in which case it's not the wheels fault. it's your choice in size. the best wheel in the world won't fix that if it's the same diameter.

I know that, but his wheel is the same size as the one I own, which blocks the gauges. I never stated that was the wheels fault.

As far as steering wheels, I would suggest the following:

Stock S5
Infini MOMO
Mazdaspeed 350mm
FD Efini
REAmemiya
or a quality 350mm wheel

Anything smaller blocks the top part of the gauges. Also, go with leather over suede. Suede does not hold up, stay clean, or look good once installed.

Be aware that the stock Mazda wheel has an offset hub- it's not centered.
The offset is approx. 1/2", so even a similarly sized aftermarket wheel may impinge on the blinker indicators.

Blah, blinkers. Nobody uses those in Massachusetts.

Also, a search just brought up to me that the stock wheel is 380mm?

Why is it so difficult to just Buy a Momo?..Something worthwhile?.
At least with a Brandname wheel you are not going to get the Silver finish flaking off,the Plastic surround breaking in two weeks, and look like it was ran over.
You get what you Pay for,and they are Junk...So,in a Sense, the "known Name wheels(like Momo) are going to Outlast the Crappy Ebay steering wheel.(why buy a Steering wheel if it will Fall apart?..Buy ONE,.and move on!).
Take into account that That Crappy wheel is the only thing that is Between you and the Control of your car,I would be Saying Fargg it!..and buy Something that I know Will Survive say a Impact.
The Crappy wheel may snap under Stress, and who wants a Piece of Sharp metal entering their chest in an accident..Where as the Brand Name wheel would bend,as they should rightfully do, and Not Break or snap.
It'd be a shame to Dress up your Car with Recaro's and a Nice Body kit.,then someone look in and go,"hey,I got one of those..25 bucks on Ebay!..It's in my Sunfire!"
But,hey,it's your car.

Hahah my sister has a Sunfire. Yeah I understand I'd rather not buy what kills me.

For reference though, this awesome write up...

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...steering+wheel (once again proving I'm searching)

...uses an eBay wheel that many members reply saying they have the same one.

As a counter argument, why should I spend 300$ on something that turns the wheel when I can buy a wideband for that price (Which I already have)?

I might just go to Autozone and get a 15$ cover to prevent the flaking onto my hands, lol.

If you can afford it: Nardi/Personal (Classic? Deep Corn?)

Midrange: Momo Monte Carlo

Cheap: Find another stock steering wheel, or maybe an NRG - at least its a "higher quality" knockoff lol

Man I personally bought one of those ebay wheels and hub combo for about 40-50 bucks shipped i cant remember it was a while back. First off 320 mm is way to small. Im a small guy and its just annoying, the hub is crap also, I had to clean mine up so everything would fit correctly. I ended up taking it off and putting the stock one back on and buying a TenzoR 350mm steering wheel and momo hub for about 180 bucks i think(about 100 for the wheel and 80 for the hub) and was amazed at what the **** i was thinking buying a shitty ebay wheel. BTW 380mm is stock.

stay away from ebay quick release hubs... they are poor quality.. my friend has one and its really hard to unlock etc..

heres my nrg slim quickrelease and momo wheel
http://i37.tinypic.com/2s0z1pj.jpg
that quick release was the best $80 i spent *i think that was wholesale because a buddy got it for me*

Seriously your better off sticking with the OEM wheel over a inexpensive ebay wheel... provided that your wheel is in ok condition.. nothing wrong with stock.. just try to save some more pennies if you can. Your car will thank you.

A Personal steering wheel might be good for a budget http://shop.ebay.com/items/_W0QQ_dmp...ring&_osacat=0

or a 2nd hand brand name wheel you can look for on ebay.

OMP is suppose to be pretty nice
http://cgi.ebay.com/OMP-Corsica-Rall...3286.m63.l1177

edit : i dont think that is a real one
