Angry IM sick of it... car died for the 5th time...

How reliable is my rx-7... not at all...

If you guys checked a couple threads back on me or my old screename vegeta6263 you will see that I bought this car for 1600 dollars, and spend over 5k on reliability mods, everything from a new radiator to a rebuild engine, blah blah blah... a couple months ago the car died while in gear and it wouldnt start... i replaced teh starter and it fired right up... here im writing again to tell you that the same exact thing happened again... but now everything is new... i tried charging the baterry with another car but nothing! if i get this car running this one last time is going on ebay... if you gusy have any clue what it could be... before this i was adding alil coolant and a lot of it fell into the conenctions by the actuators and by the TPS... i let the car warm up well over 10 minutes and then i drove it for like 2 minutes and while in gear going 50 MPH the rpms droped to zero and a couple seconds later all teh lights went up...

before this i had been drivign the car a lil hard this past week... but i mean come on... teh car already has 5k on the rebuild and 100 on front and 90 to 95 or rear rotor... or at least it did last week..

Who rebuilt the engine? Do you know your compression numbers before you installed the engine?

I doubt his compression will affect his dash lights going out. Sounds electrical to me.

The compression has nothing to do with that, yes. I am trying to understand why after 5k miles on his rebuild he has such low compression.

Yeah, those numbers are a little weak. But then again, those numbers are dependent on how the test was performed, how good the starting system is, etc...

i tried charging the baterry with another car but nothing! if i get this car running this one last time is going on ebay..

Hang in there. You seem to have put a great deal of work into this.

I say you stick with it even if it kills you.

That way, like said before, your knowledge base for this will be great and once its running reliably there won't be a single thing you won't be able to fix or trouble shoot.

I know, I have these fits with it too.

Just hang on and you'll gain alot of endurance.

ok guys today after not trying to start the car for about a day.. i went and checked all the connections ( plugs) by the TPS.. all the ones i had sumerged in coolant last time i drove the car and they were all full of coolant inside i let them get some air for a bit and then connected them back.. i also removed the plugs and recconected them from both the front coil igniter and the engine the Trailing ones.. anyways i fired the car and it started for about 10 seconds ( went up to 3k and i saw purple/ blue smoke maybe from premix i dunno ) then i heard a small cracking sound or like a boom or something like that anyways the car stalled right after that and all the lights went up again im thinking it was the coil saying good bye or maybe a apex!!!!!!!!! anyways it wouldnt crank again so right now im just getting the connections dry a lil more. can anyone help me on this ?

I say stick with this car also.....look at all you've done to it.Was this a crackling or poping noise from the engine bay or exhaust?

Cause if it was by the exhaust it could be you need a AFM.Get those pics of the engine bay up ASAP.

my 87 TII had a similar issue as ur recent one, i would be driving down the road, and the dash lights would go out, and my tac would drop to zero, sometimes the car was still running, other times the car would die... i fixed the problem by removing the plastic kick plate by the foot rest thing and jostling the wire bundle there, and then leaving the kick plate off, issue never came back, plus u can't even see the kick plate is missing, its remote enough not to notice, if thats not it the no clue

sounds kinda like your car is either flooding it self, or fuel injectors are cutting out....possibly something with the fuel system. My 3rd gen used to do the same thing, there was faulty wiring on the secondary fuel injectors, it kept them open at all times flooding the car causing it to die, and hard to restart. I had to usually wait till it cooled off and the fuel evaporated i guess.

1-why are you posting on two different names ?
2-the coils just don't go bad just like that
3-you complain too much and should really back away from the computer and even car for a while.
4-either let somebody who knows how to deal with these car fix it or sell it, if you are going to be bitching and complaining with no end. It is perfectly fine if you make mistakes form time to time, but the key is too learn from them and seems to me you just don't get it.

this is not just for this thread, but from every post of youurs I've come across.

1. Im sorry i didnt mean to post with my old screename is just i couldnt remmber teh password for this one... wont happen again man sorry.

2. So you are saying i should check something else? some kind of connection or plug? I mean i have a new starter and a new alternator and a new battery... I mean what else can i check? The CAS is working fine the timing was set perfectly by the rx7 specilaist who did the porting... how can i check them . I removed the plastic covers and tried checking the voltage on the coils... ill keep reading through the FSM.

3. Im with you 100% but i cant this is my only relieve from depression and endless boredom. Also my car is my only transportaion in college.

4. I have tried to learn from my mistakes, especially from this car is just i get irritaed to easily. i just dont have the kind of money to be pouring onto the car every other week... yeah yeah i shoudlnt of bought an sports car in the first place but hell all i ask for is for one or two months of reliability. I just replaced the tires for 300 dollars and i got a 200 dolla speeding ticket i mean i was even going to go get some oil from walmart to get an oil change when the car all of a sudden died.

No hard feelings, I didn't mean to come out like an *******. Seems like you have the right attitude now.

Probably your coils are good, they just don't go bad and if you keep getting the same thing with other coils then it has to be something else.

when you crank, does the tach bounce ?
if it does not you are not getting a signal to the coils next to the firewall. That means a wire or harness went bad or was unhook.

If you read section 5 on the FSM it will tell you step by step on how to test the coils.

Quick Reply: IM sick of it... car died for the 5th time...
