I'm not quite sure how to find this part, or even what to call it exactly...

Question I'm not quite sure how to find this part, or even what to call it exactly...

Hey guys, I searched around for a bit, but couldn't turn up anything on what I think could be called a gauge cluster bracket or mount...? I have an 88 convertible and the part I am looking for is yellow plastic on my car. It is where the cluster bonnet...? (the piece that goes right behind the steering wheel which has three screws securing it in the top. All the switches are attached to it; the turn signal, wipers, etc.,.) Anyways, that plastic piece that those three screws screw in to, broke in those spots, so I am trying to see if there is anyplace where I can get one new online or something, and to verify it's actually name haha. Anything would help.

Please forgive my vague, amatuer description. Thanks for the help guys.

I know what your talking about but I dont know if your gonna find it online . I would suggest looking in a local car scrap yard for and rx7 . Granted you have one around I have found them in my local one but they only show up every couple of months but anyway if you took a look there you will likely find one I dont think anyone will have taken that part .

I'm pretty sure thats a part of the whole dash. Use the search and look for dash in the for sale section. That will at least give you some pics and tell you if its the dash or not. and also check out http://teamfc3s.org/main/, and that will give you links to the factory service manual which has good pics of everything.

It's not part of the dash, its the cluster surround. It mounts up to the dash with 3 screws at the top of it. Ive had 2 break on me so far from them being old and me living in Arizona. It either breaks on the surround itself or the dash cracks underneath where the surround mounts up to it, in which case, you have to rig it up to mount it.

Hmmm. I had a feeling I was just gonna have to wait around for an FC to show up at the junkyard...haha. Thanks for all your input thought guys, much appreciated.

Hey driftaholic, I believe it is the surround itself that broke. Where those tiny metalbrackets slide in to allow the screws a threading to grab. I was thinking of glueing in so plastic pieces and reshaping them to the correct sizes till I can find a suitable replacement. What did you do to rig it up?
