ignition wont work????

1988 mazda rx7-hey so i went to start my car the other day and nothing, not even trouble lights. So i checked the main fuses under the hood, everything is fine. I decided to buy a new one maybe that was the problem??? In the mean time i would just run a positive wire from the battery inside the car and attach it to the big black/yellow wire coming from the ignition with a switch inbetween, and that did the job. i should mention at the time the starter never ever worked as long as i have had the car (6yrs) with the ignition, i have a push button hocked directly from battery. So the new ignition came in, plugged it all in and .....nothing??? anyone even seen this or can give me any direction that would be awsome!!! i really dont want to keep the setup i got, not to safe

Do you have constant voltage on the Black wire that connects to the ignition switch? This Black wire is found in a two wire plug that connects to the ignition switch and this plug houses a Black/White wire besides the Black wire. When the key is turned to start the voltage from the Black wire passes onto the Black/Red wire which then goes to a switch on top of the clutch pedal if the car requires the clutch to be depressed or if the clutch does not need to be depressed then the Black/Red wire travels through the firewall to a blue plug located near the trailing coil.
