ignition wiring
aight the got my vert and b een having problems starting it there are some wires hanging down below the steering colum if i connect the red wire to a black line then push the clutch down the car start pretty good so i get down and looke at all the wires and i see that thick (8awg) prolly black with red strip wire has been cut and is connected by the (before mintioned) black wire and a green one. so i mguessing that the wire melted or something but anyone if i reconnect those with the proper awg (using about 14 guage wire) 8awg wire a will it stop my problem and b that leaves me with a red and yellow wire that i dont know where they go i can try to get pics later but i was wondering if anyone know what this stuff is
i know it has something to do with the ignition system and if anyone could get me some high detail pics under there steering colum at that wiring so i can reconnect this properly

Black/Red is the input to the clutch interlock switch and the Black/Green is the output from the clutch interlock switch.
We need a better description on the Yellow/Red or Red/Yellow wire. Where is it located? Where is it going? Is one end in a plug? Or out of the plug? And is it a mostly red wire with a yellow stripe or the other way around. It matters.
The series four wiring schematics are online and free.
The interlock switch is at the very top of the clutch pedal, not to be confused with the clutch swith which is lower on the pedal.
Interlock switches fail. To overcome this you can just jumper the two wires together and not have to dump the clutch pedal when you want to start the car. A truly useful mod. A mod that can proudly be called a mod. A useful mod. We went close to eighty to a hundred years without clutch interlock switches. They are just about as useful as chimes that chime when the door is open.

my bad 2 diffrent wires 1 red and 1 yellow they look like they may have been added later and yes they go into a plug but dont know which ones and the black and green are 2 diffrent wires it looks like someone cut the black/red wire and spliced those other 2 in the black one and the green one to wire an alarm system or something in
Well, there is one plug of the ignition switch plugS that has a Black wire with a Red stripe. When the key is to Start it feeds 12v to the interlock switch. If the pedal is in then the 12v exits the interlock switch on a Black wire with a green stripe and then it goes to the Starter cut relay (only on Theft Protection cars) and from there it leaves on a black/white wire and goes to the starter solenoid.
The Starter Cut Relay is located next to the trail coil assy on cars that had Theft Protection. Those cars without theft protection got a BLUE jumper plug in the relays place.
It sounds like someones aftermarket theft protection.
I also notice there is a Black wire with a Red stripe that leaves the ignition switch and goes to a 15amp fuse in the interior fuse box.
The ignition switch has four plugs. One plug has a single BR wire in it. Another has a B/W wire and a B wire. The third plug has two wires also, a BR and a L wire and the last plug has four wires, a LR, R, L, B wires.
The ignition switch plugS are located below the switch itelf about a foot below and near the steering column.
