Ignition switch question

Just a quick question, Just switched the steering colmn and there is this switch on the back of the ignition switch with 2 wires goeing into it. And of the three cars I have all of them the saudering has come loose. Is that switch vital to anything and would it effect the running of the car? Its a square box on the back of the switch and the wires run in with the ignition switch wires and plug in under the dash. Any info would be helpful. Thanks
