Ignition questions?

What are the advantages of advancing or retarding the timing with an ignition computer like the A'PEXi Super ITC. How does it change the way the engine works? Does it increase the power?

advancing to a point can increase power slightly. basically you are trying to start the flame front at the most opportune time in the combustion phase. all while taking into account the rotors speed, etc. you will here a lot of argument over this. on an na 24 is about as far advanced as you will want on leading i believe. if you advance to far then it will try firing the mixture to early into the cmpression phase and it will try to spin the rotor backwards, thus chancing a broken apex seal. turbo's will retard ignition at times to curb detonation. there is a very informative article on paul yaw's site on ignition timing.
