ignition question

i resently aquired a 86 GX as a parts car for 200 dollors. its been sitting for a year and the owner has lost the keys .. how do i start the car to see if i can drive it home i dont want to pay the expense of a tow truck.. some one told me something about a dent puller but dont understand the concept. HELP

Apparently hotwiring the car isn't a big deal. The problem is the steering lock - if the ignition is "off", the steering wheel won't turn much before it locks into place. That's the trick.

The easiest thing would probably be to pull the ignition cylinder (to remove the lock) and then hotwire it. Unfortunately I have no idea how to do that. How soon does it need to be moved?
