ignition problem???

I have just tried to start my car and it flooded. so I pulled the plugs etc... but before I put the plug wires back on I thought I would check the spark. so I grabed an old set of plugs (still good but old) and put them in the wires and had my friend turn over the engine. I have real good spark on trailing side but little to none on leading side. does this mean timing is off or is my ignitor bad?any help will be greatful

thanx

Both LEAD plugs would have to be either on a plug or the plug wires close to a ground to tell.

both plugs were in and they were close to the fender. I am asuming that drapping over the fender is a good ground

Neither. Read http://www.teamfc3s.org/info/articles/demystifying.html Look for the words G and NE signals about halfway down.

Do this. Go to the LEAD coil. Pull both wires out and then gently lay them back in the coil bores. Start the engine. Idle it. Gently pull one of the two wires up out of the bore about 1/8 inch or so. See the large spark? Yes. Do the other wire also. See the large spark? Yes. The lead coil is working.

Or to prove it, pull both the trail wires off their plugs. Start the engine. Runs just the same as before. Trail does squat. Lead does most everything.

And or go here: http://wombat.sevarg.net/RX7/RX-7_Training_Manuals/ and download the Engine Electrical first and the others later.
