Ignition Key Beeper Problems

My '89 vert spontaneously began sounding the ignition key warning beep when the doors open ... without the key being in the ignition. (Although, thank God, it does shut up when the door's closed.) The door was replaced last week with a used '90 door after a blind woman backed into me, and I suspect there's a problem with the door contact. Anyway, I'd as soon disconnect the warning beeper. Any unforseen consequences to that? And, if not, can someone tell me what it looks like, and about where it is? I've spent time under the dash, but my audiolocation skills aren't exactly bat-like.

Thanks-
Jay

It is in the CPU, located in the driver’s side kick-panel. It may need to be resoldered. Mine was acting up too, until I got my soldering iron out and resoldered every thing.
