Ignition beeping? door sensor? searched already.

So heres the deal, Ive had this my 1990 tII for about 5 months, and it just developed a new quirk, albeit a very anonoying one.

The car is a 1990 tII, and here's what it does: I open my door, put key in ignition, then turn to acc. position - it beeps in this pattern: beep, pause, double beep, pause, double beep. then repeats after a little longer pause. Before, I always thought this was a warning that they key was in the ignition and the door was open - fine by me. even seems useful.

Here's the problem, it used to stop beeping when you turned on the car, now it NEVER stops till you turn the ignition to off and take out the key.

what could this be? nothing has changed about the car since the beeping started - give me your thoughts guys - Especially you IceMark - you da man on elec. issues

do you think it could be a setbelt issue? my drivers side mousebelt is broken - it doesent come forward - it's under recall I think - is this causing the beep?

LOL, I R so smart! The beeping goes away when i plug in the LAP belt! I dont know if I've always buckled it BEFORE I put the key in before, or what, but MAN, what a relief ! I searched on beeping for 2 hours and thought I had a ghost that I might never get rid of . So, for future reference, if you have an s5, and you dont buckle your shoulder, AND LAP belts, you'll get five beeps from the car, then a pause, then five more.. I am so smart, S M R T!
