Idling issues after S5 Turbo upgrade
Hi all!!
I just finished swapping my S4 turbo with a rebuilt S5 turbo now the car would not idle. I can start the car no problem, but it would only stay idle for about 5 seconds then it shut off. I double checked all my connections and found nothing. Any ideal of what might cause this idling issue. It was idling fine before changing to this S5 turbo.
Thanks for all you help..
Doug

Vacuum leak.
That's what it sounds like to me. You still have your air pump, right? Check the vacuum lines on the hot side of the engine... maybe one is touching the turbo...
Possibly the stock BOV got knocked lose, or is damaged. It is suppose to return blown off air to a port AFTER the MAF... so check that, make sure it is hooked up.
Or, you could try the "Spray water from a spray bottle and listen to the motor" game. The idea is to get water on the vacuum lines, but centralized... you'll have to spray down each line that you can find... and then search for more because there are more
When you hit it with water, the motors idle will change slightly... which may be hard to do if you can only keep it running for a few seconds at a time....
Some people use carb cleaner for this, but that is flammable... it makes the engine noise MUCH more noticeable, but you are risking an engine fire doing that. I've done both, but only recommend the water for the sake of engine fires. Myself, I use carb cleaner

Did you cap off the extra vacuum nipple on the wastegate line?
Edit - Sorry, not sure why I thought that would do anything besides cause the wastegate to do nothing.
Mine wouldnt idle when I got it back together and I had forgotten to plug the BOV in and the small line to the TID.
You might sadly have to just go back and doublecheck everything
