Idle/Starting problems

I have a project 87' TII and after about 3 months of very slow and not so occasional work I have gotten it running.

I have two problems the first being that I lost the idle. I had it idleing about 2 weeks ago and after changing a broken pressure sensor I cannot get it to idle it will start and jump to 3 and then just die out. I thought vac. leak but I haven't changed anything that would cause it in the last 2 weeks. I have tried all I can think with the idle screw tried starting it with it all the way in and backing it out as we go but nothing seems to be working for me. I was hoping to get the stock position and go from there or any suggestions on why this is happening.

Second problem after I run the engine and get it warm it doesn't want to start up much at all I has started after being warm once or twice but the majority of the time it just won't go. I have checked and rechecked vacuum lines but I honestley cannot find one. Is it possible that really old gas is keeping it from idleing and starting once hot. My friends subburban with a built motor(oxymoron) would not idle without high octane gas. I am open to any and all suggestions. Thank you.

First thing you need to do is a compression check, then after posting the numbers we can get down to the nitty-gritty idle problems, if the numbers are good...

ok I have done comp checks with pistion cars but never on the rx is there anything I should know or is it just plug and go. Also with bad compression it doesn't explain why it idled before. Or does it?

*sigh* Use the search button. This has all been covered a million times and if you use the search feature, you'll get info a lot quicker than starting a new thread and asking.

ok you will warm up the engine
disable the ignition system
take out the bottom spark plugs
and at WOT crank the engine with the compression tester on
with the release button pressed in on the tester look for three equal readings

remember on the comp tester to take out the little nipple in the bottom. Crank and wait for at least 3 pulses, maybe 6...

Motor has to be warm and have to have full throttle.
