Idle problems, TPS checked...

So... I tried to take another shot at my bouncing idle issue today.
Warmed up car to normal operating temperatures... IE: took my car to the parts store to drop off my old oil and back home.
Checked for vacuum leaks via spraying a starter fluid around everything… no changes in RPM from what I could gather.
Took off the TMIC, and then unhooked the TPS and then took the readings...
Checked the TPS again... set at 1010ohms.

Then I went to adjust the idle via that screw a bit and the pulsing idle went away... but only if your foot is off the clutch, when the clutch is in it will do the pulsing.

I went to go drive with it acting this way and it seemed like it can accelerate *a lot* faster than it could before. I have a little test "loop" that I do... I go onto the freeway onramp and its 2 lanes going onto it and uphill and I was able to get to 60mph about 3ish car lengths before I normally do.

I tried to adjust the fast idle screw and my car would *not* idle below 1000rpm.
The fast idle adjustment screw can be completely out and it will idle at about 1050ish or higher after blipping the throttle.

If I try to force it to go more closed via the throttle at the throttle body, it will idle at about 700rpm, when its at this RPM I don't have the pulsing *at all* clutch in/out what have you.

This brings up my question, I don't have an ACV installed, if i reinstall that I will be able to restrict some of the air coming in at idle, then when I am accelerating it doesn’t do anything right (like full open)? If so then how hard is it to install one... I know this makes me sound stupid, but I am a visual/touch learner... if i cannot physically see it and know what it is, then I have no idea about it other than what it might do roughly. My idea right now is that I have an ACV block off plate installed on my upper intake manifold on the passenger side near the top (I know there is a block off plate there and i am going to say its for the ACV https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...hmentid=151959), but after that I have no idea how where the vacuum lines go/come from...

Also on this last picture the blue arrow is the idle adjustment screw… what is the red one? And do I have a vacuum leak with the green arrow being open like that (during my trials I have capped it and had it uncapped and nothing changed)

is the red arrow the one that controls how open the butterflies are when idle?

ohh hey i got a posible idea, , donno if this applys to s5 or not,

but i had a similar problem with throtlte not closing all the way, and pulsing idle in my s4 , are you sure your thermo wax is adjusted right??

mine wasnt and it was holding the throttle open a bit even while warm ,

and that was causing that dreded pulsing idle on my t2 a while back if you remember.....

I don't think I still have that on mine... the throttle body is pretty stripped bare.

EDIT: thanks for mentioning that though... reading about the TB mod now...

its for cold start when cold it holds hte throttle open very slightly, hten hwen the water that flows threw the TB heats up it moves out, and returns the throttle , that red screw might be an adjust for it does the FSM say anything about it?

No idea, the FSM confused me about about that part... i think it said it was the cam adjusting screw that hits the thermowax, but i don't see anything like that on my throttle body... going to check again

It looks like a bolt/tab is supposed to control how much its open, so going to look at that... F1-36 in the FSM

will check those and report back

ok now the one in rthe bottom picture labled "throttle adjust screw" is the red arror your potinting at, but DON'T mess with that yet..... now that blue one is the throttle stop screw, leave that where it is...

the problem i was talking about with the thermowax holding the throttle open is, is the one in the first picture labeded "Fast idle cam"
it looks like you have emissions removal so im sure they disabled the water flowing threw the throttle body,
so the thermowax isnt functioning so its stuck in the "cold" mode, if you can find that screw," fast idle cam" try tightening it down pretty far and see if that helps... it should alow the throttle to close all the way then.... the fast idle cam screw should be visible from the driver side of the car leaning over. and its kinda under that mushroom shaped (dashpot)( its also shown in the picture below it, as the "first adjust screw" just to give u an idea which side your looking from...

do you have AIM or anything like that, my aim name is kompressorlogic if u would like to talk about it.

Thanks man, I owe you big time.

Come to find out... I think it was just my throttle cable not letting everything close all the way, either way it only pulses about 200rpm and only a few times so i just think i need to readjust the TPS marginally.
