My seven's idle bounces up and down rapidly. it'll get to about 1500, then it'll drop a couple hundred, then go back up, over and over.

This usually goes away after the engine warms up, but since this started happening the idle never goes down to 700.

What's going on?

 

I'm having the same problems. My idle surges too. and sometimes goes away or sometimes never happens or sometimes it just idles really high. I pulled the codes from the car and got 12 and 18 which pretty much tells me I need a new TPS.

12 is TPS - full and 18 is TPS - narrow.

I have an exhaust leak and it's a 89 vert. BTW I don't hear any vacuum leaks.

Sorry if I threadjacked. But I didn't want to start another idle thread and maybe the person that helps the OP can help me and vice versa since we are kinda experiencing the samething.
