Idle Problems

I sincerely apologize to all the people who will scold me for not searching. I am at work and don't have time to sift through all the old threads.

My idle is completely screwy, here are some of the symptoms:

When cold:
1) Sometimes when it is cold, it will bounce between 800 and 1100 until it is warm (like 4-5 minutes), then flatten out.
2) Sometimes it will just rev at 1500 or 2000 RPM until it is warm, progressively growing to a smaller RPM, usually ending at around 1000rpm. (It doesn't bounce between 1500 and 2000, it just sits at one of them).
3) Sometimes it will idle at about 900rpm while cold, I will drive it for a block, stop (at a stop sign or something) and it will die. Repeat until engine is warm. Once it is started, it will not die until I have driven it for a short amount of time and stopped.

When warm:
1) Will rev normally at about 800rpm, then every 10-15 seconds bog to somewhere between 500 and 700rpm, then go back to 800 and sit there for another 10-15 seconds. You get the point.

Any ideas? TPS?

I'm having the exact same problem. Can't figure out what it is either. A number of references have said it was the BAC.

Ok, serious newbie question that I've been afraid to ask for the past couple of months. What is BAC?

You really need to get the factory service manual (see the FAQ for links) and read up on the emission control system on this vehicle. It is very complex and any one or more of several components can cause idle problems. Solving the problem usually involves a step-by-step inspection and testing of these components. Sorry, but there ain't no single magic bullet when it comes to solving idle problems.
