idle messed up still, electrical goblins
I know my posts are probably long and boring but I feel like I have to include all relevant details. My saga continues. It's me vs. the RX7, to the death.
87 TII. Still idling 1300-1600 at approximately 1 Hz, maybe a little faster. No intake leak found yet, looking at other things meanwhile.
Today I was messing with it. I let it warm up and start doing it's messed up idling. I let it go for a few minutes and then shut it off. After I shut it off, with the key still in the ignition, and with the headlight switch up one notch so that the parking lights and gauge cluster are illuminated, I hear a little sound going at exactly the same pace as my idle... it's kind of a cross between a click and a buzz. Hard to describe. But it's frequency is unmistakable.
It's not coming from anywhere in the engine bay. It is only audible down by the driver's feet. And here's the freaky part: the sound is caused by either door being open! I noticed this when I closed my door to hear it better and it went away. (And no, unfortunately my idle does not correct itself when I close my door.)
Please, does anyone have an idea on this.. Could there be any relation between a bad, bouncing idle and a problem with the warning lights?
Also: One (and only one) of the times I had it running, the deceleration portion of the idle bounce was accompanied by a buzzer. I have no idea from what. No warning light associated with it.

lol, no. all rx7s do that. it's to let you know that you left your lights on... my sis's 01' millenia does it and the family 'garaged' 00' grand marquis does it... it's normal
i also have a high idle. i checked for vacuum leaks.. none
it bounces around 1300-1500 and goes down to 1000 with the AC all the way up..
ahhh!

goblins. gremlins. they both screw things up.
I've been checking around for a vac leak. Haven't been able to find one. Blah, how much is a set of new hoses?
And the click I'm talking about is not nearly audible enough to constitute a warning to the driver, but perhaps that just means whatever makes the sound in my car is toast. Weird that they'd be exactly the same frequency though, I think... Oh well. I guess it was just wishful thinking.
