idle issues

the first set of throttle plates are wide open(just two at top) the second set are almost completly closed(three plates, two on top one on bottom). i also tried switching the vac hoses and nothing change except when i actually took them off. also i did push the screw/linkage down with a srew driver as far as i could push it and there isn't any change. the only time the idle changes is if ipush the opposite way on the throttle. the rpms drop but then go back to about 2000rpm. right now its sitting at 2300 rpm but that seems to flucuate

the dashpot, does it kind of look like a ufo saucer with a piston of its own? when i push in on that piston the idle drops but then reterns back tto about 2000rpm. this is really frustrating

i adjusted it all the way out. the piton wasn't touching no diff. i ajusted it all the way in no diff. i pushed on the linkage, it was not touching the piston and the idle dropped. its the linkage. so what now?

no. the only thing that makes the idle drop is pressing on the throttle linkage in the opposite way.weather in front or back of the throttle body. it has nothing to do with the dashpot. yes the linkage in front moves

A couple of posts ago you suggested the idle dropped when you "pushed" on the linkage. Now do you mean "pull" instead of "push"as that would make a whole bunch of sense. If you're at the passenger fender and your moving the linkage behind the throttle body toward you that would be an example of "pulling" and not "pushing." Please clarify.

ok i think i might be on to something. the cable that lead from the linkage on the back side of the TB that goes to the passenger side to a can(i dont know what its called). i adjusted it and the idle dropped. i got it down to about 800rpm but its got a hesitation when i give it gas. and it has killed on me twice when giving it alittle gas.

I believe the cable you were messing with deals with the cruise control system which would then explain things. With the car "fully" warmed up you need to adjust the TPS to one volt and fidget with the Dashpot to get it back to a proper position. Now when the hesitation occured was it when pressing down on the gas or letting off of the gas?

i just tapped the gas pedal both times it killed so i guess when pulling off of the gas pedal. the car has been running and warmed up for at least an hour now. so i need to get a volt meter?
