idle hang?

jdm s5 turbo

I just adjusted my TPS to the right spec, everything feels great! Idles at right rpm(800), no more bucking. But I noticed the rev hangs a bit before fully dropping down to 800 whenever I put it in neutral.

for example I am coming to a stop light, I shift to neutral from 3rd, the rpm will drop down to 1000, hang there a bit, then slowly go down to 800 where it idles nicely. What's up with that? Bad tps?

its kind of normal, but you may want to check the idle speed.

I see that often. The neutral switch on the transmission has a role. Idle speed is boosted a little via the BAC when you put it in gear, but it won't always drop when you take it out of gear. Put in gear, then take it out again and it'll drop.

Is there a fix for this? Aside from replacement?

Is this really that big a deal? does it mean components (such as the nuetral switch) need to be replaced or at least checked/repositioned or something?

I don't think it's a problem with anything. It's probably a quirk with the ECU.
