Idle - 1000 cold, 500 warm, always smooth

Ok, well i just installed my J-Spec motor into my 87 TII...blew the stocker at 125,000 miles...ANYWAYS...

ALL EMISSIONS REMOVED

The car idles smooth as butter no matter what, only thing is...its at 1000 when i first start it, and 500 after its warmed up...sometimes a bit lower...but not much...

any reasons for this?

TPS?
TIMING?
VAC LEAK?

Well I'm not sure what the problem may be but the 1000RPM's at cold start is fin and 500 is too low for fully warm running. Adjust the Idle screws when it is warm to bring it up to 750rpms which may not even require any coarse adjustment from the throttle and only fine adjustment on top of the intake manifold.

Someone please correct me if I gave wrong information here and I'll edit it out.

Sounds right, that whole 1000 rpm stuff is part of the cars design.

sorry...i forgot to say...RTEK 1.7...and thats supposed to remove accelerated warm-up...ill adjust the idle screw when warm though...1000 rpm cold doesnt bother...500 warm doesnt bother me either...just weird

We've got about 120K on our 88 T2 and we're wondering when it will blow? Did you have any "symptom's" before it went or did it just happen? Also, was the J-Spec choice cheaper than a rebuild?

idle problems...bucking on the highway...not smooth...rough starts...flooding...

idk if those are symptoms...but those were my problems before that arent problems now...

and the ONLY reason i went J-Spec is not because i wanted JDM STATUS or i wanted the EXTRA POWER that they dont have...its cause i got a J-Spec motor with the car when i bought it...thats the ONLY reason...

Have you been doing the engine work yourself or did you shop it out?

impressive. I love to hear about rotorheads that can swap a whole engine. How many honda ***** can do that? Aren't we all amazing? (this is where I take a bow for someone else's work)
