on my way to class i got off the highway and all my idiot lights came on. once i came to a stop my car was idling high, around 1500. the car slowly got hotter as i got to class and made it to half-way on the guage which never happens in my car. I havnt had time to look at anything but I know the idiot lights come on if the alt is bad. im guessing the alt belt broke since that drives the water pump as well or is slipping too much. didnt have time to search, any suggestions?

 

All the idiot lights will come on if the ALT belt snaps.. Which also powers the water pump.. So you guessed it..

Just pop the hood and check if the belt is still there..
