idiot lights all on?

i was driving along coming to a light, i down shift while rev matching to a stop when i go from 3rd to 4th, every light on the idiot alarm panel or w/e came on. At the same time it seemed as if all of the lights including the head lights got brighter. But now the idiot lights will not go off. what did i screw up now? Is there a way to turn them off its really annoying. thanks

Check your alternator.

All the lights in the idiot light (warning light) panel come on when the alternator is not producing voltage. When that happens on a series four, the alt puts a ground on a relay in the CPU. THAT relay then pulls in and its contacts put a ground on the Warning Light Circuit in that Warning Light Panel.

The same thing happens each time you turn the key to ON and the engine is not running.

I'd check with a meter to see how much your alternator is putting out.
