Identifying & Removing Solenoids (S4 T2)

Well Ive searched (ran into a great thread by dcfc3s, should definetly be archived) but still have a couple more questions.

Ive already removed/blocked off the following: twin scroll, OMP, split air pipe, no egr (jspec motor), and ACV.

I dont believe all the solenoids were discussed so I figure it wont hurt to ask here: What does the switching solenoid do? As well as the relief solenoid?

I dont know if I'll remove the pressure regulator solenoid but the rest im sure I will. Actually, upon taking a second look at it, the metal lines seem to be all welded/soldered together in areas so its all or nothing.

So on top of the before mentioned questions, does anyone have personal exp. having removed the PRC solenoid? Also, will removing the BAC effect much on the motor? Im running no accessories. Thanks for your time and input.

If you have PS or AC or anything that will put more load on the engine at idle (airpump) you might get idle fluxuations when they turn on with the BAC removed. However, if you have none of those the BAC isnt doing anything

And yes its all or nothing, unless you manually rip apart the spider or use vac line to connect the system (instead of the spider)

Thanks for the tip Drox. Well AFIK for the moment, theres nothing that would cause drain. No power steering, A/C, air pump. Just the regular blower fan

Any additional advice on regards to removal of the pressure regulator control solenoid would be appreciated. Thanks.

my setup that I'm putting together now is similar. I have taken apart the wiring harness and removed all 5 solenoids from it

the relief and switching solenoids are both related to the ACV, so you can ditch them.

I removed the FPR solenoid, just hooked up vacuum line to the regulator. I also got rid of the whole spider vacuum line metal thing. I have all my vacuum sources hooked up to the nipples right after the TB. I only have vacuum lines for BOV, wastegate, boost sensor, FPR, brake booster, and one that goes to the fitting on the lower intake manifold in the middle of the primary injectors.

I think my setup will work fine, anyone disagree?

I'm ordering the engine rebuild kit very soon.

any more questions? I'd like to hear more about your setup.

Im trying to do about the same with mine. So far ive removed the OMP and blocked everything off, removed the ACV and was tracing back the lines and removing things today. Its a bit easier for me because the motor is out of the car. I'll be working on it more tomorrow so hopefully I'll be able to update you a little more then and get some picstures.
