Bad idea, Removing them slows exhaust velocity enough to make a difference in the scavenging of burnt gases in the system. Just counterproductive IMHO. I had one taken out when I didn't know any different and have regretted it ever since just because the pin/retainer loosened up and caused a rattling noise. Caused a stumble in my idle ever since. Don't do it, Headers or not.
