I want it LOW!

I want my 88 gxl to sit real low. I'm not looking at buying a body kit or anything.
Many people here disagree with going any lower than 1 inch.

I really want to go atleast 2 inches.
Who here has gone 2 inches or even lower?
Im not looking to race my car. I plan on putting 17's or even 18's.

what kinda set up, or even just springs are the best for it.
love some info or even pics. thanks a lot.

Please sell the car.
The FC is not designed for stupid drops like that.
Go get a Honda and camber kits if you want to slam it to the weeds.

Well Ted, that's a harsh response! A good one too. I completely agree. Read about suspensions.

I'd agree that this is harsh, but fair ted.
the RX-7 cant get much lower without making it undrivable. but hey whatever floats your boat.

lol, I was pretty sure our cars are already low as hell, I have to go at like 2-5 mph for some speed bumps around here, and pretty sure my suspension's stock.

but judging from what you're saying, wanting to pretty much have your car scrap against the ground with giant *** rims for no reason at all isn't that great of a reason. People get bigger rims to fit wider tires specifically for more grip, doing it for looks you might as well just buy a civic and get some spinners for rims and strap a giant spoiler on the back. Rx-7s are no longer in production as you already know, we don't need more for the junkyard.

nicer pic by the way reted

I have the intrax drops with RB springs. Makes for a stiff drive. But you do feel like your're low. The top of the car comes to about the top of most tires on trucks. The top sits about 7-8" lower than most passenger cars.

Racing Beat has strut tops, they're inverted or modded (can't remember), but they give an extra 3/4' drop, get those, and get some Ground Control Coilovers and you'll probably end up thinking that it is TOO low. But, yeah, your best bet is GC coilovers, with a lip and stock sideskirts (can't even tell they're there) and it'll look f'in slammed. I've seen 7's slammed, they look good, but they are right, you'll rub, even with just the GC coilovers.

Ted, can't you give a constructive comment....ever?

people get more cynical the older they get, least it beats being ignorantly arrogant.

Truth can be skewed by predispositions.

In this case however, it isn't.

But as stated above, SlammedRed7 even says he rubs on hard turns and nasty bumps.

His setup is 5Zigen FN01R-C 17x8 +35 w/ 225/45 in the front, 17x10 +12 w/ 275/40 (which he doesn't really recommend to just anybody) in the rear and KS Coilovers, if I remember correctly, with rolled fenders (with a bat) in the rear.

you will be best off getting a decent set of coilovers (and camber adjusters for the rear). try and find a set of coilovers that have seperate shock stroke and height adjustability, so you can go pretty low and not have to worry about bottoming out the shocks. it will get really stiff and uncomfortable like this though... but if you really want to go low, this is what you should do.

oh, I didn't see that. I have the GC setup with 17x8, 28 offset front and rear 17x9, 27 offset. 225 tires on front and 255 rear. I had to raise it higher than this picture shows. The rear tires would rub the fender lip.

Whats wrong with slamming FC's , if its got enough shock travel to make up for the drop.
90% of your cars are 4x4 so don't talk.

RE_TED : MR. DRIFTMASTER, I thought you knew and have been around all
types of Race Class, Drifting , Street car RX-7s... I'm sure they were raised too?
