I want to know how to take off the instrument panel garnish?

I got new defroster grille for my 1989 GTU and I was wondering what is the best way to take off the defrost panel. I took off the center cap bolt off, but I can’t get it off. I was wondering if I needed to take off part of the dash or pry it with something.

There are several metal clips that hold the panel down. Also at least one of the a-pillars should be removed to get the panel in and out easily. Technically you can flex it out, but it's a real struggle. Just remove an a-pillar and make your life easier.

There are three bolts if memory serves correctly. One in the center, and one at each side under each defroster vent.

Is this an S5 thing? My 88 10ae certainly doesn't have bolts under the a-pillars.

Whoops! I was thinking the whole dash panel garnish, and not just a defroster vent.
