Unhappy I think I got scammed on eBay

Master power GT45, hks 50mm wastegate, unknown exhaust manifold and greddy BOV, all used except the turbo. my winning bid came in at 660 bucks, would up being 730 with shipping + ins. I was leary because he had no eBay history, but some people on another forum said he was well known on HondaTech. I paid him on thr 29th, asked for a tracking number the 2nd day, and got this message on the 4th

"hey my son died and i havent had time to get things together i will send it out in the morning sorry for the wait . i promise you a tracking number tomorrow"

I told him I was sorry for his loss, and i would expect a tracking number in the next coming days.

link to auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...DME:L:RTQ:US:1

am I overreacting or am I totally screwed. I paid through paypal

thats a tough call.....I think you will probably get your stuff.....although the excuse that his son died is pretty far fetched.....but **** does happen.
His other auction was also for fc stuff so it doesn't look like a complete scam. Yeah I'd say just wait a little bit and if you hear nothing do the paypal claim

You can file a claim through paypal if the item never arrives. I think the "Good guy, bad guy" section in the for sale zone is the correct place for this post.

Yea wait a week. Ebay requires that for a non paying bidder so it should be the same for a seller. You have plenty of time to file a paypal claim or do a charge back on your credit card.

You got scammed. And if he took the money out of his bank account, Paypal can't get back anything. Oh, and they will charge you $40 to do this. I once paid $40 to get 40 cents back.

Paypal is a joke.

Lesson learned, do not buy anything from a guy with 1 whole sale on Ebay for anything over $100. But I am sure your hindsight is 20/20.

dude if he is a VERIFIED paypal member then u will be 100% refunded and there is no charge I should know I have had these problems before...

give him more time the excuse may be shotty and may also be true either way unless u feel stout enough to tell him he is a liar and possibly upset the man give it till the end of the week but give him daily reminders via email.. as long as he is responding he is prolly legit the moment the email stop being replied then call foul.. that and only give him untill friday to ship it

he is verified, so that is covered. I am not yet calling him a liar, it all just sounds really sketchy. thanks for your advice. if i dont have a tracking number by saturday, im gonna file a complaint or whatever.

sounds too good to be true though, the turbo alone costs more than you won the auction for.

+1.. and if his son did die. Why would he create that kind of username to get rid of his sons parts? That turbo alone is over twice what you bought all that for. Just seems like one of those to good to be true things

Send him some emails, Ask whats going on.

I can see on his feedback, that the other person got the Intercooler he was selling.

He is on the other side of the country you know. Sometimes shipping is quick some times it aint. I know one time I shipped out a Koyo Rad to a guy in California, it took 7 business days to get there.

Relax give it a few days. If you lose contact, thats when you act!

well, got an email from the seller,. with a ups tracking number i was juts getting paranoid due to the fact that I got the stuff at such a low price, his short ebay membership, and the fact that "if it sounds to good to be true, it proly is". I kept a little faith, never called him a liar, and it seems to have worked out. Now the wait is on to see what actually arrives in the package.
