If you want to drag race, buy a 5.0 w/ an AOD equipped with a shift-kit...

erm I know this is a stupid question, but what exactly is "feathering" the clutch? I am assuming it means to let up on it lightly, just enough to make traction?

I don't like drag racing, but the car should do 16's easily. I HATE 5.o's so please do not mention them. I was not drag racing We were checking our times as drivers and cars not competing but I should have gotten a faster time than an 18.2x. Would an LSD help out in giving me traction? I hav one on the parts car but it is an auto so I would need to change the final gear to retain the one I have right now. There were a lot of factors that cold have slowed me down considerably so I don't know. Thank you all for the advice and keep it comming. I just want to know why I did not get the time I should have so please do not lecture me on the fact that we don't have drag cars I know that already If I did not I would be saying help me I did not get a 10 second 1/4 mile. I am not dumb. I hope that I am not that bad of a driver and it was just the conditions I did the run at.

A LSD would help out alot. What auto had a LSD? Maybe a S4 GXL auto? I dunno. Anyway, a N/A FC in PERFECT running order can run high 15s stock. The normal times are around a 16.0, but Ive seen a few run 15.6 and around there stock.(stock excluding good tires). That stopwatch method is probably horrably inaccurate, so I truthfully wouldnt worry about it that much.

Wow...if the car is mechanically fine you just need some practice (I also own a Nissan NX1600 that would run laps around you and it's stock right now). Definately do some practicing, the stopwatch isn't too accurate...BUT I'm guessing that's all you have right now so you can make do. I'd just worry about clutch modulation more than shifting right now (how long have you been driving?), although shifting is very important it doesn't mean anything if you can't work a clutch. Doing a jack-rabbit all the way down the quarter will produce a time, and you can shift as quick as you want but if you don't know how to work the clutch it won't matter how much power you have. Just get some practice, and BE SAFE if you're gonna do it on public roads please please please be safe I can't stress that enough. We've already had too many of our own become victims and I don't wanna see/hear of anymore. Plus think about the others out there (or hopefully NOT out there). Good luck man...practice makes perfect.
