I sold the GXL

For an AWD Turbo Laser. It was a hard choice I have to say but I liked the feel inside of the DSM more compared that I did with my FC... The feel of AWD is amazing, and when the Turbo kicks in - wow... I finalyl found my cure for the Turbo bug though...

Borderline troll thread

I wonder where it belongs... since it really doesn't belong in the 2nd gen section

You like the DSM huh? Had any problmes with the t-case leaking? Watch it, theres a lifetime recall on it though. I'm considering a 1g dsm after I sell my n/a...GXL too.

lifetime recall on the transfer cases? does that include when you shatter the diff inside it? Biggest dsm problem is breakage. we have t2's eating apex seals, and they have routine driveline failure. I will admit the little boosted 4 banger can put down some power with very little upgrade investment. But in the end, like all neons face.... its still just a dsm.

NO SIR! a first gen dsm is the best if not second best bang for the buck for under 100 bucks(all be it may be rice or home depot mods) you can get a first gen dsm into the 13s and that is hard to do with an rx7.

but they're ugly, cramped, and have bad build quality.

I'm not sure if this was a national ad campaign, but around here they had these two guys who were suppose to be pro-wrestlers and just sounded consitpated shouting like morons for 45 seconds on the radio. Oh baby, that makes me want to go drop 20K on a car... or shoot someone responsible for making me listen to such ****. I can afford bullets... figure out the best option from that.

Yes sir to your right! There easy to make go fast! And yes Jimmy, the recall is a lifetime deal. The t-cases in the awd car leak and eventually the t-case ceases. Theres a number you can contact to support that lifetime warranty..big thing on the dsm forum I read.

I just wonder how many times they'll honor that? lol I know dsmers that budget 2-3 cases a year. Kinda like neon axels. Those guys bring spares to the track.

The dealership will say its already been done so they don't have to do it again, but you call some number and they will call the dealership and straighten it out legally. Then they have to honor it b/c its a "lifetime" recall. I read that some people had a car that had it done 2 times before they had it and they took it in to get it replaced again b/c of leak. Shitty *** t-cases huh?

Its not the gaskets that leak for my friends... its where the cases use to be one piece and are now several.

Ever bring one of those in for recall work?

gotcha on what? I still hate the ugly *** piles of **** just as much as I did 20 mins before reading this thread.

A geo metro with 100 in mods will run 3 seconds faster than stock too... what does that prove? Hell, if I just used the gas in the torch and cut everything off but the drivers seat and enough to keep it from dragging on the ground... I could probably get it faster than most civics too. It's still gonna be an ugly *** pile of **** though.

i don't think they're that ugly. i'd take a TSi with popup lights if it didn't weigh 3100lbs. i'd like to see a geo metro cut 3 seconds

jimmy its the fact that a dsm can be a high 13 second car for next to nothing where as most other cars in that class you would have to lay down some cash.

I know, I'm not dumb enough to say that you can't make an eclipse fast for next to nothing.

But, they're not a good car. The trannies don't hold up to the power, and the transfer cases break all the time, the cv joints can't hold the power, the shock mounts on the control arms even break.

Is this what you consider a good car?

And I hate the pseudo cockpit layout. I felt like I was going to punch the dash every time I shifted into 3rd on the 96 I test drove. Its shifter **** was even loose off the dealers lot. I had nothing good to say about the car and the salesman kept asking me how I would be paying for it and if I was going to take delivery today? I hate those cars....
