I Need A Transmission!!!

Well, as many here know, I broke my transmission 3 weeks ago this wednesday, and I have been in the process of tearing it apart this last week. Well, I got it open, and, well, I have to say, it dosen't look pretty in there. I had a catostrophic bearing faliure in the 1-2 gear area, which also lead to 1st gear seizing to the shaft, and when I went to get it out of the 1st gear position, all that happend was I broke the shift fork, which I belive already had a stress fracture in it.

Anyway, it comes down to it, I could rebuild the trans for upwords of $800 or I could try to find a used one on the forum for about the same price or less.

Also, I know that I should be putting this in the For sale/wanted section, but not nearly as many people will look there as if I put it in the 2gen section, so if the mod's want to move it, so be it, but I am just putting it here to get the word out.

Now that I am through with my grand story, we get to the meat and potatoes of the whole situation. I am looking for a s5 N/A trans with low miles / semi-fresh rebuild or a s5 TII trans in pretty much any running condition. I prefer the N/A, but I can have a custom driveshaft made up at quartermaster pretty cheap (about $100 with the u-joints and ends I have now) to use the TII trans. I was thinking about the TII trans, being that the N/A trans only handles up to ~250 hp (not sure, but thats what I heard) and I might be up at the top end of that if I go for porting it with a 1/2 bp as I have been thinking (wishful thinking, yes, but I am conserned for the fatigue the parts go through).

Anyway, now that that is explained, anyone with any HELPFUL information, please post it or PM me if it is ground-breaking information (I.E. you have a TII trans for $150 that your ex left in the living room with a fresh rebuild, etc).

Thanks for any and all help in getting my car going again.

p.s. If the trans is anywhere near me (2-3 state radius), I may just go pick it up myself after hijacking my dad's suburban or something, so give me your location, too.

the fine print (and its fair to do so) states +additional parts. Meaning broken or worn shift forks are extra.

My point exactly. Although I like to do stuff like rebuild my trans and stuff myself, I just don't have the time available right now with school and all.

Try this guy. He rebuilds and will even put in custom gear ratios for not very much. I have heard good things about him and he was pretty helpful in talking me through my auto to manual tranny swap.http://iscracing.net/clutch.htm

I'll drop him a message or call him tomorrow or tuesday, depending. I don't know if it will be worth it, though, being that if the trans is severely screwed up to the point where it is cheaper to get a new(er) one, I will probably do that. I wonder where all the transmissions went that were around here for sale when I didn't need one...

such as life is, I guess.
