I need help with the taillights

I had an accident (click the link in my sig) and the car stopped running. Well I've got the whole front end rebuilt now and we're ready to take it to a mechanic... well I put the battery back in the car today and tried to turn it over and got the same sound I've been getting. Well whenever I turn on my lights the headlights pop-up and all of my dash lights come on. But I noticed my damn taillights don't come on anymore. I've checked all of the fuses, but none are blown. When I press the brakes, all of the lights still come on. I think something may just be unplugged under my dash, or under the hood.

All of the lights on the car come on like normal, but the tail(lamps) don't come on. So if i were to drive down the road at night, and you got behind me... you wouldnt see me. Unless I pressed the brakes. It's a really strange problem... I screamed WTF really loud when I turned on my lights to get a glimpse of my s5 lights again. and they didn't come on.

so the front and side marker lights do work?

Since they are all tied together, if the front and side lights work as well as the brake lights, but the tail lights do not, then the harness is severed in the drivers kick panel (which frankly I really doubt, since the brake lights run in the same circuit).

Did you read the FAQ for FC at the top of this section?

I know I post this every time I read a post with this problem.....sorry if you think it is stupid, but I made that mistake once and it might happen...... Check the fuses in the engine bay........I misplaced one( i put it in the ABS slot, but my car had no ABS) and the tail lights were dead along with the cluster.......

take a voltmeter or multimeter
and see if you got power when
you turn your lights on.

When we were moving my car this cover blew off. Now I have NO IDEA what fuses are which. So if someone could please do me a favor and take a picture of their fuse box on a S4 without ABS I would very much be grateful. I'm trying to figure out if one got missplaced and thats why my taillights don't work.
Thanks,
Eric

hey man i had the same problem so what i had done for a while was just tapped into the red and black wire and just hooked me up a switch to it so when i would drive at night. well there for a while i didn't know what it was but my break lites would come on and i couldn't figure it out for the life of me. so i was like WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! so i started to recheck fuses and then bulbs and i then realized that the guy who owned it had put the wrong bulbs. so the main switch still didn't work but the parking and the tails did. so i ended up blowing the fuse when i got my new switch and then i just replace the switched and the 15 illum fuses and then everything worked perfect. hope this helps. oh also if i remeber correct the fuses should have the number somewhere on the fuses its self so i would say just match the numbers up.
