I lost my only key to my car-will the dealer hook me up?

I lost my keys and my wallet containing my spare last night, dont ask me how but I did. What do I do about getting a new key? Can I give the dealer my VIN and hope they can help me out?

give them your vin and proof that you own it, and they'll make you another. expect $20-30 or so I think.

my friend got a real mazda one because he asked for one. I think that's why it was $20-$30, and not the $5 the other guy listed.

When I hit up my local dealer this week, he said the factory style key was no longer available. That it is not even in the parts books anymore, unless you buy the ignition switch assembly or lockset assembly.

My question for you is will it open the glove box and storage compartments, cause other duplicates don't.

When you go to the dealer with your VIN,he checks with Mazda's computer which gives the data for your specific car including the key code. The dealer then cuts the key using the specfic code for your car.Unless the car has been messed with the new key, properly cut will fit all the locks.
Mazda blanks with the black plastic are still available in Canada and Scott is rifgt they are more expensive. My local dealer has blanks with black plastic but no "Mazda"embossed in them.

if you copy the real key it opens anything, if you copy the valet key it won't. I'm sure the dealer can cut either one for you.
