I know I shouldnt but....help please
change our your thermostat also. easy fix... if you can get your 2 bolts off the Tstat housing... mine gave me a fit and actually broke off the head because it was so old and corroded... had to drill and retap that sucker out... but Tstat is always good and cheap.
thanks for the info ill probably do that when i do the flush..might as well do all that all at once...i just pray its nothing major wrong...luckily the few times i had the engine problem i never heard any grinding

It has a float, and as the float raises up the resistance measured increses or decreses, cannot remember for sure, perhaps one of the gurus will chime in. I tried cleaning mine to see if that would help, it did not. i beleive you just have to replace it. its not hard, i can tell you that much.

If you go to the dealer (the only place that stocks them as far as i know) and you tell them you need a fuel level sender, they will look it up on their computer, and show you a diagram of the fuel tank, and ask you if its "that" part, and thats pretty much all the info they need. if you want, take it out, go to the dealer and tell them you need a new one, they are usualy pretty good at looking at it, and getting it without much trouble.
reat kinda brought this back and i was searching and stumbled upon it. if you are flushing your coolant system if you havnt yet when all the coolant is out thats good time to get to the thermostat and try boiling( boil water around 185 degree F with the thermostat in the water) you should see the thermostat open at around 185 if it doesnt open that is most likely your problem. If it does open maybe a clog somewhere in the system or the fan, if the fan is not working then at highway you should see the temp drop and it would be more of a traffic temp problem unless it is not freewheeling. you guys had said
Anyway, the fan is behind the radiator- how could it impede airflow coming in?
im not a physics major or anything but i do know that if the fan is not freewheel it is no good. i dont think it impede airflow i think it put more of a strain on the fan and engine because the air is coming at a much greater velocity. just my 2 cents dont remember exactly how that works.
