I keep killing TPS's

I've gone through my 3rd TPS in 1000 miles. Granted that all were used, but they checked out just fine, with clean sweeps.

Symptoms:

Acceleration completely cuts out randomly, as if I were to let my foot off the accelerator for brief moments. This was alleviated when I swapped in another TPS, but continues to return!

I unplug the TPS and the car dies, I thought they could run without them?

Can anybody shed any light onto the matter?

are you a s5 ? are you getting a limp and fault code from the EOMP cause it cant match the EOMP scale with that from the TPS?

have you considered the fault may be in the feedback position sensor from the EOMP?

have you tested all the removed TPS's for a linear resistance sweep ?

im thinking it may be EOMP related, and if you get a chance,, grab the code it flashes to you

but also perhaps a fault in the TPS wiring amounting to a open circuit now and then,, or a **** 5V bus signal , or ECU earth

Cygnus- You are correct sir, that is my next move; just saving up and getting my DD driveable until then..

Bumpstart- Its a s4, so no EOMP, in fact the OMP has been blocked off. My first thought was a short somewhere in the wiring too, I examined the harness pretty well before installing the rebuild. I'll have to take a more in-depth look. I'll be re-grounding next weekend anyways, I'll take a look at the bus signal while I'm at it. Is that the 5v vref signal from the ECU?

Until then, its TPS number 4... goods thing the s4 ones are cheap...

For S4 turbo:

G/R goes to pin 2G (1 volt). Brown based wire is the Vref (4.5 to 5.5 volts)and goes to pin 2A, and the Black based wire is the ground and starts from pin 2C and ties into pin 3A and 2R as well.
