I have a timing cover oil leak
I have a timing cover oil leak
I need some advice on my timing cover oil leak. Do you guys use RTV to do this or a gasket. I come across this leak after I fixed the one in the oil pan gasket, now I have a good flow coming from the drivers side if the timing cover.
Thanks for the help

never had the problem, but isn't it due to the front cover o-ring squeezing out of place?...I think now most people don't use a gasket anymore, they just RTV the mating surfaces before install...is this a recent rebuild?
it is not recent
this is not a recent rebuild, I bought the car about 3 weeks ago. The odometer reads 160,000 miles, the engine is clean so I do not think it is the original. Where do I get the "O" ring itself?
the engine's clean because the previous owner knew it had an oil leak and tried to hide it until it sold, I'd think...look up the Mazdatrix.com website- they'll have all the parts you need, plus a writeup on that o-ring in the FAQ section...I'm not sure if it's your problem, but it's a good bet, unless your metering oil pump is leaking somehow...can you tell exactly where the oil is exiting?
ok it's not a timing cover.
That's the front cover which i believe the oil pump and belt is in.
We have a Crank Angle sensor which is that weird circular thing angled out of the front cover.
Sound like a front cover O ring leak. You did redo the oil pan though which is connected to this point at the bottom.
A front cover thing is kind of a PITA to do. I recommend to download the FSM if you plan to do it.

ok, I am a newbie, what is a FSM
You are right it is not a timing cover, the rotary is new to me, I just saw the belt and did not think. There is no timing chain, it was the oil pump, my bad.
