I have some questions on using a digital timming gun

I just read a bunch of posts but didnt find one yet with reference to a digital gun.

I hooked it up to the L1 last night and I got readings off the gun tach for like 2000-2300rpm even though the car tach said 900.

I also tried hooking up the tack to the other 3 plug wires and on the T2 I got no reading or flashing from the gun at all....

I havent used a timing gun since I got rid of my 85 RX7 7 years ago.

so this new gun is messing me up.

what have I done wrong? i looked at the Haynes manual but it didnt work right.

will the gun not work on this car?

If it wont then that sucks....

I searched dammit...

thanks for the help.

Mike.

when I get off work I am yanking out the cas to make sure it is even in the car right. no telling with the way this car was when I got it.
